This coming November, the Amesbury Cultural Council will once again present the annual Amesbury Open Studio Tour. Entering its 20th year, the event promises to once again showcase the artistic talents of the City and region.

The 20th Anniversary celebration will be held Saturday, November 12th and Sunday, November 13th. As in year’s past, local artists and fine crafters will open their studios to the public, providing the rare opportunity to view artists at work and purchase one of a kind items. In addition, the Council will host artists who do not have a studio or prefer a more central location, as well as artists from out of town, at Amesbury City Hall. Many locations, including City Hall, will provide live music, demonstrations, children’s activities, and food and beverages for visitors.

To celebrate the 20th Anniversary, the Council hopes to bring back new favorites like the free trolley that transported visitors around town and to various tour stops. They also hope to integrate additional musicians and other performance artists. There will also be discounts that weekend at many local retailers and eateries specifically for tour visitors.

“It’s hard to believe this will be the 20th Anniversary of the event,” said Carley Monell, Cultural Council Co Chair. “It’s really a testament to the robust community of artists that has developed in Amesbury. They have transformed Amesbury into one of the major cultural destinations in the region. The Council hopes to make the 20th Anniversary a true reflection of the creativity present in our community.”

With humble beginnings, the tour has grown from one location showcasing a handful of artists to 15 stops, featuring more than 75 artists and performers. During the summer, the Cultural Council will provide an application for artists to register for the event.
