Creative Arts Hosting Year-end “Celebrating the Arts”: A Free Family Friendly Community Event
“Celebrating the Arts” is Creative Arts’ year-end recognition of student and faculty achievement, art exhibit, performances and awards. This FREE and family-friendly event will take place on Friday, May 18 at Creative Art’s Pilgrim Hall, 25 Woburn Street, Reading, MA.
This year’s event also kicks off the recognition of Creative Arts’ 40th anniversary. The organization was founded in 1978 by Judith O'Hare and a group of local parents who saw a need for quality arts programming in the community. Save the Date: The organization is planning a anniversary gala on September 15, 2018!
This festive evening begins at 6 pm with a reception and light buffet dinner hosted by Creative Arts Board of Directors. While socializing with friends old and new, guests can enjoy an art exhibit featuring the work of faculty and students of all ages. The program will begin promptly at 7 pm with award presentations, announcements, and music and theatrical performances featuring select students and faculty. Dessert will be served and raffle winners announced immediately following the program.
Our featured performers will include the Creative Arts Classical Guitar Ensemble, Owen Schromm (student of Baekyu Kim and Crescendo International Music Competition winner) and members of the Creative Arts Faculty. The art exhibit will feature the work of our students and Faculty members Laura Root and Jaclyn Antreasian. Adult classes represented will be Life Draw Studio for Adults and Drawing and Watercolor. Student work will include pencil, pastel, paint and mixed media from ongoing classes and February and April vacation weeks.
Select students will also receive special awards. The Mildred Hersh Memorial Scholarship honors a piano student who has demonstrated outstanding musicianship and regularly attends lessons, recitals, and workshops. The James O’Hare Scholarship is awarded based on love and dedication to a string instrument and involvement in the Creative Arts family. These scholarships are generously donated every year in memory/honor of family members and will be announced at the event.
A winner for our much-anticipated “Four $ Fenway” Raffle will be drawn. The winner will receive 4 tickets to the Red Sox vs. the Yankees on Saturday, August 4 @4:05 pm at Fenway. These are Loge Box-Home Plate Seats with a value of over $600! Raffle tickets are just $10 each or 6 for $50. Here’s Your Chance to Support Creative Arts! Buy tickets at Creative Arts, 25 Woburn St, Reading during the hours of 10am-4pm Monday-Friday. Winner need not be present to win.
