Matt Damon to Film Manchester-by-the-Sea

The not-so-sleepy town of Manchester-by-the-Sea has seen its fair share of film crews set up on its rocky coast. The Good Son (1993), State and Main (2000), The Proposal (2009), and Edge of Darkness (2010) are among the titles it can claim. And, soon, the eponymous Manchester-by-the-Sea will rank alongside them, as Matt Damon teams with writer-director Kenneth Lonergan for a new drama in which Damon plays a plumber living in Boston who returns to his hometown after the death of his brother. Shooting will begin in the next few weeks. We speculate that the Boston native will slip into character quite easily—accent and all.
