Phillips Academy in Andover has been named the best private high school in the country, according to a survey recently released by Niche, an education research group.  The rankings were based on statistics, student and parent reviews, and expert insights. Ranking factors include SAT/ACT scores, the quality of colleges that students consider, student-teacher ratio, student and parent reviews. Niche’s database contained records for 8,051 private high schools across the United States.

Phillips Academy—a private boarding, co-ed school in Andover with 1,131 students in grades 9 through 12— received the highest marks due to an average SAT score of 2,180, an A+ grade for top colleges considered, an A for diversity and culture, a 99 percent four-year matriculation rate, and a 5-1 student to teacher ratio.

Presidents George W. Bush and George H.W. Bush graduated from Phillips Academy, as did New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, Fredrick Law Olmsted, Alice Stone Blackwell, and Humphrey Bogart.
