MarketStreet Lynnfield has announced that the highly-anticipated Skeleton Key is now open. A spellbinding adventure emporium, Skeleton Key marries the fun of an escape room with a whimsical bar and lounge. Ray Weaver, co-founder of Muse Paintbar, is behind the concept.

Evolving the escape room, Skeleton Key has a carnival-like atmosphere and highly detailed, highly creative décor. Its three-different, task-oriented puzzles create immersive, narrative-driven experiences, each with their own distinct theatricality and code to crack. These include Starry Night, an art heist; Virus, a search to cure a global pandemic; and Scarab, where players go on a quest to end an ancient Egyptian curse.

Weaver developed each narrative with his team, and then refined and developed the technology with BeSide Digital, the New York City-based experiential design and technology company known for its work on AMC’s immersive travelling installation “The Walking Dead Experience” and other large-scale, interactive activations.

Skeleton Key also houses a unique lounge with bar and table seating for guests to enjoy before and after their experience. The whimsical menu offers snacks, plates, and beverages, including beer and wine. Look for items like Carnival Popcorn and a Three Ring Circus of sliders. Further entertaining guests and found within the lounge is Pneuman, a one-of-a-kind pneumatic tube system through which guests can send and receive messages from the “spirit world”.

“We want every part of a guest’s visit to be spellbinding. Game props are highly detailed – a computer reminiscent of those in the 1980s, a London telephone booth, and a camel that really spits if you get too close. We’ve spent two years bringing our vision of an ‘adventure emporium’ to life and MarketStreeet Lynnfield had an immediate understanding of our creative direction. We were drawn to this location for the ability to neighbor such a fantastic collection of shopping and dining destinations. Our home here makes the Skeleton Key experience all the richer since there are ample things to do before and after playing in our space,” says Weaver.

“We have eagerly anticipated Skeleton Key’s arrival, and it greatly expands on our dynamic entertainment offerings. From this incredible adventure emporium to bowling to fitness to painting, there is no shortage of things to do at MarketStreet Lynnfield,” says Christina Barrows, general manager of MarketStreet Lynnfield.

Skeleton Key is perfect for friends, families, and co-workers. Each game can accommodate groups of 2-10. When booking large parties in all three games, the facility can comfortably host events as large as 45 people. Each game lasts approximately 60 minutes, and tickets are $24-$32 per person depending on day and time.

Skeleton Key is open seven days a week, Monday-Saturday from noon-9:30 p.m. and Sunday from noon-6:00 p.m. It is located at 663 Market Street Lynnfield, 781-374-8200, skeleton-key.com.
