Salem’s So Sweet Chocolate and Ice Sculpture Festival

PHOTOGRAPH by Jared Charney

What better way to shake off the doldrums of deep winter than with chocolate? This festival kicks off annually with a chocolate- and wine-pairing evening that always sells out, followed by a week of downtown shops and restaurants offering tastings and sweet deals. As if that wasn’t enough to encourage folks to bundle up and walk around, ice sculptures—some 20 last year—are scattered throughout downtown. Grab a map to make sure you don’t miss any of the sculptures or the sweet treasures.
