On Saturday, October 15, Voices of Hope, a local non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for cancer research through musical performance, will present its 8th annual gala performance at North Shore Music Theatre in Beverly.  Proceeds will benefit cutting edge work being conducted at the Henri and Belinda Termeer Center for Targeted Therapies at the Mass General Cancer Center.

The Voices of Hope gala promises to be a truly special one-night event that you won’t want to miss. Through the universal language of music, this group of talented artists will share their interpretation of favorite Broadway tunes, both traditional and contemporary. Threading a lovely ribbon of hope throughout the performance, several members will share personal experiences with cancer and poignantly celebrate their survival through song and dance.

“Everywhere you turn in life,” said Greg Chastain, Voices of Hope Founder & President, “you encounter a cancer survivor or someone who has contributed in some way to that successful outcome; through research, clinical treatment, or personal support and care. Each of our productions are created to honor the strength and resilience of individuals meeting the challenges of that journey, and to recognize the significance of being able to celebrate one more birthday, be present for a first day of school, or dance at a loved one’s wedding.”

Broadway for Life allows the organization’s multi-talented members to shine, as they return to their roots in musical theater. This magical evening will feature many Broadway favorites ranging from such classics as: Guys and Dolls, Anything Goes and 42 Street, to the infectious energy of Working, Footloose, Kinky Boots, and more! There’s something for everyone to enjoy in this musical celebration.

From the performers, to the choreographers, musicians, back-stage tech, and directors, this production represents more than 100 dedicated group members. Personally impacted by cancer or dedicated to finding a cure, these volunteers collectively donate thousands of hours to rehearsal and planning in the months leading to this single night. Don’t miss this celebration of the new possibilities born by significant advances being achieved through cancer research.

The Voices of Hope gala will begin with a cocktail reception and silent auction at 7:00 p.m. in the theatre lobby, followed by the performance of “Broadway for Life” at 8:00 p.m. Tickets for the event are: $40, $50, and $75 (includes VIP reception) and can be purchased by contacting the North Shore Music Theatre Box Office by phone at 978-232-7200, online at www.nsmt.org , or in person at 62 Dunham Road in Beverly.
