Local business woman, MS, RYT-500, C-IAYT yoga therapist, and North of Boston Cancer Resource Steering Committee leader, Carol Gamble, is the 2018 recipient of the Constance M. Grasso Award. Gamble was honored by the YWCA of Greater Newburyport at the May 22 annual meeting.  Each year, the YWCA selects an individual who embodies women’s health and has positively impacted their community throughout their professional life.

The award was created in 2015 in memory of Constance “Connie” Grasso, a longtime employee of the YWCA, co-creator of YWCA Encore Program, and cancer survivor who lost her battle with the disease on March 25, 2015. The YWCA Encore Program is a free and unique survivorship program specifically designed for women who have experienced cancer in their lifetime.

“It is with tremendous pride that we present the 2018 Connie Grasso Award to Carol Gamble for her relentless dedication and hard work on behalf of people with cancer.  The North of Boston Cancer Resource is a result of her vision which has taken flight and soared into the amazing resource it is today,” says Gayle Calistro. YWCA Encore co-facilitator who works alongside Ilene Harnch-Grady, YWCA Encore director and health & wellness director.

Gamble’s passion is to work within the field of integrative medicine addressing all aspects of a person’s well-being. Integrative medicine emphasizes the therapeutic relationship and combines complementary healing therapies with conventional approaches to empower and engage patients in their own healing process, body, mind and spirit. Carol volunteers at Anna Jaques Cancer Center, teaching mindfulness, gentle yoga, and meditation. She resides in Newburyport.
