Bridgewell’s 10th annual Mitten Drive held Tuesday, December 12, helps to spread warmth this season to those less fortunate in Lowell and Lynn. Every year, the nonprofit receives an anonymous donation of more than 500 pieces of cold weather gear, including mittens, hats, scarves, and earmuffs. Volunteers from Bridgewell’s Self Advocacy Group and Human Rights Committees decorate the winter gear and add gift tags with holiday wishes. Donations go to Bridgewell’s Affordable Housing tenants in Lowell and Lynn and extra donations are given to the Lynn Economic Opportunity, Inc., an organization serving more than 7,000 people with low incomes.
“We are so grateful for this year’s winter gear donations, which continue to provide Bridgewell’s individuals with the opportunity to give back to their community,” says Charlotte Alimenti, community services coordinator at Bridgewell.
