The Northeast Arc, a not-for-profit organization that helps children and adults with disabilities become full participants in the community, is hosting its annual fundraiser with the baseball-themed Swing into Springevent. Taking place on Saturday, March 21, 2015 from 6:30 – 10:30 p.m. at the Kernwood Country Club in Salem, funds raised at Swing into Spring will be dedicated to the Northeast Arc’s recreation programs.

“The kids and adults with disabilities we support are at greater risk for loneliness, isolation and chronic illness than the general public. Fortunately Northeast Arc’s recreation programs offer the chance to get fit, stay active, and most importantly, to make friends,” said Northeast Arc CEO Jerry McCarthy.

The evening will include cocktails, dinner, and a live auction hosted by Kim Carrigan, longtime Northeast Arc advocate and co-host of The Financial Exchange on WRKO-AM. Former Red Sox pitcher, Dennis “Oil Can” Boyd and sports journalist Mike Shalin will be on hand to sign copies of their books and assist Kim with the live auction. Guests at Swing into Spring will enjoy wine provided by Kappy’s Liquors and the artwork of caricaturist John Doherty of Beverly during the reception.

Some of the auction items include: An opportunity to see Red Sox games at both Fenway Park and Yankee Stadium with a two night hotel stay in New York, A 5 day/4 night stay for eight on Martha’s Vineyard, Tickets to see James Taylor in concert at Fenway Park and an acoustic guitar signed by James Taylor, tickets to see the New England Patriots with the opportunity to meet former players and be part of a pre-game chalk talk, tours of WCVB, Channel 5, and a visit to the WROR studio for a live broadcast of the Loren & Wally Show.

Top event sponsors include: Cy Young Sponsor: Eastern Bank; Carlton Fisk Sponsors: Northeast Clinical Services, the Rainer Family and United Benefit Services and Media Sponsor: The Salem News.
