New York City’s Magnolia Bakery, world renowned for its freshly baked, classic American desserts, has opened its first New England location, located in Boston, at Quincy Market at Faneuil Hall. The newest store is approximately 1,100 square feet and has a coffee counter with seven stools where patrons can enjoy their coffee and desserts.

To celebrate, the baker is giving away 50 Boston cream pie banana puddings free to the first 50 guests with any purchase for the first week, March 29 through April 5.

Magnolia Baker is known for its iconic banana pudding and rose to fame after being featured on hit television series Sex and the City and Saturday Night Live, and the film The Devil Wears Prada.

Though Magnolia Bakery got its start in New York City, it has lots of Boston ties including its chief baking officer Bobbie Lloyd, who, in her third year of college moved to Boston to study at renowned French chef Madeleine Kamman’s Modern Gourmet cooking school. After graduation, she opened as co-owner the critically acclaimed American Accent restaurant in Brookline. In addition to serving a menu inspired by seasonal fare, it had its own small retail bakery.

Magnolia Bakery will be serving up their coveted banana budding and new Boston cream pie banana pudding, as well as handmade cupcakes, cookies, cheesecakes, cakes, pies, icebox desserts, and more. The all-new banana pudding flavor—available exclusively and daily—at the Faneuil Hall location has layers of vanilla pudding, vanilla wafers, bananas, and decadent chocolate fudge. All of their desserts will be available for advance order with an option to pick-up or limited local delivery.

In addition to daily menu items, Magnolia Bakery also offers events and corporate catering, including beautifully decorated birthday cakes, customized graduation cakes, tiered wedding cakes and baby shower dessert tables. Magnolia Bakery offers a wide variety of desserts for events, including customizable cakes through their Cake Salon. Their events team will work with you to create a dessert menu that best suits the theme and budget of your event.

“We are excited to finally be opening our first store in Boston,” says Steve Abrams, Magnolia Bakery’s CEO. “With the iconic nature of the Magnolia Bakery brand, we are excited to have found a partner in the historic Faneuil Hall. We feel it’s a wonderful brand partnership to serve both Bostonians and visitors to the city.”

“We’re inspired by Boston’s current food scene and are excited to introduce fans to our newest banana pudding in honor of Boston’s iconic Boston Cream Pie,” says Lloyd. “We’re looking forward to developing more Magnolia Bakery desserts around local flavors in the coming months.”

“Magnolia Bakery will make an exemplary addition to Quincy Market,” says Joe O’Malley, general manager of Faneuil Hall Marketplace. “Bringing new and exciting experiences for visitors is part of our vision for the future of the marketplace. Magnolia Bakery is a well-recognized brand, and the local team has come up with great products that are exclusive to Boston and Faneuil Hall. We also believe Bostonians will really enjoy what they have to offer.”
