Girls on the Run (GOTR) Greater Boston’s registration for the Fall 2016 season opens on August 24, and the season kicks off the week of September 11. Girls on the Run is a positive youth development (PA-PYD) program based around team-style runs/activities that inspires girls in grades 3-8 grade to be joyful, healthy, and confident. The volunteer-led program is structured into regional groups of 8-20 girls who participate in a 10-week season, a season in which they learn to work as a team, build self-confidence, and connect to their community. The program currently has over one million participants and serves girls in 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Kristen Bonito, program coordinator of GOTR Greater Boston says it best: “Girls on the Run is so much more than just a running program. We empower the next generation to feel strong enough and confident enough to pursue their dreams, make them a reality, and impact the world around them. It’s amazing to see the transformation of the girls and teams throughout the season.”

The program fee for the Fall 2016 season is $175, but scholarship funding is available if needed – the organization does not turn girls away due to financial circumstances. The program fee includes a GOTR program t-shirt, healthy snacks at every lesson, a GOTR water bottle, entry to end-of-season 5K, a 5k t-shirt and 5k finisher’s medal.

The Greater Boston council has engaged over 1,700 girls in five counties for 12 seasons. This Fall and 13th season, GOTR will be offered at these North Shore locations:

Marsh Grammar, Methuen

Tenney Grammar, Methuen

Crossfit 133, Georgetown

Each team will meet two times a week for 90 minutes.
