Ski magazine has named Bretton Woods number one for snow and grooming on the East Coast for the second year in a row. As New Hampshire’s largest ski area, Bretton Woods offers 464 acres of skiing and snowboarding on 62 trails, 35 glades, and three terrain parks. Alpine and Nordic skiing are in the offering as well as a canopy tour, dog sledding, and three terrain parks. Omni Mount Washington Resort is a kid-friendly all-service resort that offers the perfect ski getaway.

McIntyre Ski Area, Manchester, NH

January is Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month in New Hampshire! With nine trails of varying difficulty, a terrain and snow tubing park, McIntyre is a perfect place to learn to ski. In fact, it is known for its Snowsports School. Whether you are donning skis for the first time or want to polish your turns, there is a program to suit your needs. The school has more than 150 instructors on staff, who can teach all ages—from preschoolers to adults. This year, McIntyre has added a new trail for expanded opportunities.

Nashoba, Westford, MA

This season marks Westford’s Nashoba Valley’s 50th anniversary. With 18 trails for beginners and experts alike, 11 lifts, and a tubing park, Nashoba is a great local ski area to bring the kids. Every Wednesday night throughout the month of January the Nashoba staff will have a 45-minute jam. Skiers of all abilities can practice new tricks and win prizes for free.
