The breweries coming to New England Brewfest, the leading summer beer festival, are offering a sneak peek at the top tap trends:
DON’T WORRY, BE HOPPY!
Look for new IPA’s on the horizon. IPA stands for “India Pale Ale,” a hoppy style of beer in the pale ale category that was first brewed in England in the 19th century and is a local craft brewer favorite at New England Brewfest, including:
Shipyard Brewery Monkey Fist IPA
Sam Adams Rebel IPA (the big player’s first ever reformulation of a flagship beer from its Boston nano brewery featuring a juicy, tropical and citrus flavor)
FOCUS ON FRUITY
In addition to Sam Adams’ Rebel IPA update, several breweries note that fruit is a new trend for craft beers. Among many other fabulous and fruity offerings, New England Brewfest attendees will enjoy:
Angry Orchard Hard Cider
Shipyard Smashed Blueberry (served during the VIP ON TAP preview)
Little Apples from Hidden Moon Brewery
According to brewers at Hidden Moon Brewery, in addition to juicy New England style IPAs, mead is the fastest growing segment right now. At New England Brewfest, look for their Desire sweet Black Currant, Black Cherry, and Blueberry mead.
The inside word from Brooklyn Brewery is that consumers are looking for beers that are brewed right around the corner from their house. Straight from their hot Williamsburg neighborhood, they’ll be bringing their cool, easy-drinking Summer Ale.
