Mission: Share military histories as a positive community engagement to benefit education and awareness of service of all kinds.

NEW for a second year! Family outdoor movie night Friday July 142023, 8pm:

Family outdoor movie FUN on the Patton Homestead “great lawn.” The children’s animated PG movie THE INCREDIBLES from Pixar. The movie will be shown on a big screen and is free. Family friendly refreshments will be available. Also, in the Patton Homestead meadow, historic military camps and displays will be set-up as a preview to the next day’s exciting Military Service Day event. Friday night open 6:30pm-9:30pm. Movie starts at 8pm.

Military Service Day Saturday July 15, 2023, 10am to 4pm you will see hear, and meet:

SPEAKERS:

• Ms. Helen Ayer Patton, Major General George Smith Patton IV and Joanne Holbrook Patton daughter, General Patton’s WWII granddaughter. Ms. Patton is an international veterans, military history advocate, and MSD event ambassador.

• BRIGADIER GENERAL JOSEPH F. MORRISSEY JR. is the Assistant Adjutant General for Air, Massachusetts Air National Guard, Joint Force Headquarters, Hanscom Air Force Base, Bedford, Massachusetts. He is the principal advisor to The Adjutant General (TAG), Air Component Commander, and Land Component Commander in the administration, coordination, planning, development, and execution of all Air National Guard and National Guard Joint Staff programs. General Morrissey ensures the preparation of the 9,000 soldiers and airmen of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for contingency operations in both federal and state emergencies.

• Medal of Honor recipient, speaker to be announced.

• Colonel Geoffrey Love: Lieutenant Colonel Geoffrey Love is the director of historical services for the Massachusetts National Guard and curator of the Massachusetts National Guard Museum in Concord. He has served as a soldier, NCO, and officer in the Army and the Army National Guard for 35 years in the field artillery and logistics branches. His education and interest in historical research and archival practice led to his current assignment, where he has the rewarding task of living up to the motto of the Massachusetts National Guard Museum, “Preserve, Educate, Inspire.”

• Mr. Amanullah Rahmani, US ARMY Green Beret Translator, Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan. 

• Mr. Peter Vicaire, is a US VA Tribal Government Relations Specialist who works with tribal governments located in the Northeast, the Upper Midwest, and the Northern Plains. Native American US Military Veteran histories and service.

•             Commander, Massachusetts Army National Guard.

EXHIBITS:

• WWII US 1943 M4A Sherman Tank and US WWII 1945 Chafee Tank, WWII German Panzer STUG tanks and operating, driving demonstrations.

• USCG Jayhawk helicopter landing pending mission approval or mission re-direct day of event, weather. Time to be announced 24hrs before event, see Facebook.

• Massachusetts State Police EC135 Airbus Helicopter landing pending weather, mission change, K9 Units, Bomb Disposal Unit and Dive Recovery Team. Time to be announced 24hrs before event, see Facebook.

• Massachusetts National Guard, 155MM Artillery, Mobile Command Unit, MP Unit, Troop Transport vehicles, Bomb Disposal Unit personnel-robot, and more.

• (75) Military re-enactors, equipment displays, demonstrations, memorabilia, historic military vehicles including a half-track, heavy trucks, artillery.

• The Boston Park Mounted Rangers and MA State Police Mounted Patrol Unit representation.

• Food truck vendors serving family friendly lunches and treats including Joe is on a Roll, Ben & Jerry’s ice cream truck! Picnic tables available.
