Rubbish to Runway ReFashion Show and Galleries at LynnArts Tickets
January 17 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm$25
Dresses and outfits formed from plastic, wooden frames, medical waste, seed bags, discarded tents, and umbrellas will walk the runway in the Rubbish to Runway ReFashion Show on Friday, January 17, 2020. The show is a collaborative effort sponsored by the Rubbish to Runway and the Galleries at Lynn Arts and will take place at the Galleries at LynnArts (GALA) at 25 Exchange Street in Lynn.
The Rubbish to Runway Refashion Show has been performed many times on the North Shore over the past ten years. It has featured a changing line-up of original couture made from recycled, upcycled or refashioned wearable art. This is its first appearance in Lynn and will include fashion‑forward handbags by Lynn’s own Couture Planet’s and an opening performance by the Shimmy Mob – Salem, MA.
With the mission to keep arts and culture accessible to the community, all opening receptions at GALA are free and open to the public. Beginning at 5:30 pm the main gallery will host the opening reception for Layers (Call for Art: Layers), a fiber arts show that will welcome all innovative works created with fiber as the primary medium. In addition, Slay N’ Glam makeup emporium will provide “glo up” options before your turn at the interactive photo booth created by Salem artist Katy Bratun.
The small gallery space at GALA will house twelve past Rubbish to Runway dresses on dress forms and framed sketches of Rubbish artists’ design processes.
*All submitted events will go through an approval process. If approved, they will take 24-48 hours to appear on the website.
