In 1692, hysteria overtook Salem Village as witchcraft accusation flew. A respected judge, Nathaniel Saltonstall was called from Haverhill to serve on the court. Saltonstall, a man of logic and law, soon questioned the legitimacy of the proceedings. He was quickly forced to choose between his integrity and self-preservation. His fight for the truth threatened to put his loved ones and himself on trial. He chooses to step away. The rest is history. Based on a true story, the play “Saltonstall’s Trial” brings this untold story to life October 17-27 at 560-seat The Larcom Theatre in Beverly, minutes from Salem’s Gallows Hill. This new original play is written by Haverhill native Michael Cormier and with Myriam Cyr of Beverly.
