DESCRIPTION:Former PBS’s Antiques Road Show guest appraiser Peter Pap will delve into the history of rugs including the unique characteristics of woven into these works of art by villagers and nomads from major weaving countries. Pap has been dealing in distinctive rugs for more than 45 years and is recognized nationally and internationally by collectors and designers as one of the country’s foremost experts on antique rugs\, carpets\, and tribal weavings. He has been featured in numerous publications including The New York Times\, Elle Décor\, GQ\, House Beautiful\, and the Wall Street Journal. The talk will be held at the 1883 Tudor style manse designed for Henry Lee Higginson\, founder of the Boston Symphony Orchestra\, in Manchester-by-the-Sea. The design and restoration of the house interiors and garden is being completed by today’s owner/Architectural Designer\, Paul Stremple.  \n\n\n\n\n\nThe lecture will be followed by a wine reception in the home’s glorious gardens designed in the 1930s by renowned landscape architect Fletcher Steele\, who also reimagined the gardens at Naumkeag in Stockbridge. The Manchester-by-the-Sea garden\, dubbed Highgarden/Hyghe Contente\, features Steele’s signature waterfall and reflecting pool carved from existing bedrock. Original plantings such as dwarf Japanese maple\, Chinese juniper\, hydrangea\, and lilac continue to thrive today. A zinc statue of Poseidon introduced by Steele is also found on the lawn. Today’s owner designer Paul Stremple will share the manor house and gardens history and evolution with guests and answer any questions about this historical verdant masterpiece. \n\n\n\nTickets: \n\n\n\n$40 for ICAA Members \n\n\n\n$50 for General Public

DESCRIPTION:Join for a day of holiday festivities and cheer! Greet Santa as he arrives at the Ipswich Town Wharf. Sing carols with Buddy the Elf as we await Santa’s arrival! Jingle bells will be available for purchase. Jingle your bells and follow our honored guest and Buddy the Elf on a festive “Jingle Bell Walk” to the Ipswich Town Hall at 45 Green Street. Keep a sharp eye out for the Grinch! Once Santa arrives at Town Hall\, he will receive children 11 and under while a string quartet entertains. Parents are urged to bring a camera! Following their visit with Santa\, the children can have their faces painted\, play festive games\, and create holiday crafts. The Rotary Club will serve hot dogs\, hot cocoa\, and more in the COA cafeteria.  \n\n\n\n\n\nTickets will be available for purchase in order to enjoy delicious food\, face painting\, and crafts. There will be free games to play as well. Raffles for Christmas trees\, a new Ipad and apple pencil\, and local business baskets will also be up for grabs! Attendees are encouraged to bring unwrapped gifts fit for a child to support the Marines in their organization\, Toys for Tots!  \n\n\n\nProceeds from the Jingle Bell Walk proceeds will be donated to charitable activities and Interact Club activities. Ipswich High School Interact Club runs the Jingle Bell Walk event annually. It is a fundraiser and this year some of the profits will be going to the charity Ipswich Caring. This event is meant to bring the community together during the holidays!
