SUMMARY:Saint Anthony's Italian Feast 2023
DESCRIPTION:Join the people of Boston’s North End each year to celebrate their patrons\, Saint Anthony and Saint Lucy. Saint Anthony’s Feast has become the largest Italian Religious Festival in New England. \n\n\n\nNamed the “Feast of all Feasts” by National Geographic Magazine\, this authentic Italian street festival offers something for everyone. Enjoy colorful parades\, live entertainment\, contests\, and daily religious services. Wander the beautifully decorated streets and sample delicious Italian street foods from 100 pushcarts\, including arancini\, sausage peppers & onion\, quahogs\, calamari\, pizza\, pasta\, zeppole\, cannoli\, and gelato. \n\n\n\n\n\nThe highlight of the Feast is a ten-hour procession of the Statue of Saint Anthony through the streets of the North End. Accompanied by devoted followers\, marching bands\, and floats\, the Statue returns to its chapel as confetti and streamers fill the air. \n\n\n\nOther events include the Fillipo Berio Culinary Pavilion\, featuring cooking demonstrations and sampling from the best restaurants in the North End and Boston. There is also an annual Open Air Mass honoring Saint Anthony\, including the veneration and blessing of the Relic of Saint Anthony and the distribution of blessed Saint Anthony Bread. \n\n\n\nSaint Anthony’s Feast is a must-see spectacle\, according to the magazine of Italian Food Wine & Culture. Mark your calendar for this annual celebration held on the weekend of the last Sunday in August.

SUMMARY:Lobster Cove String Quartet at Annisquam Village Church
DESCRIPTION:The Lobster Cove String Quartet makes its debut Saturday evening\, September 16 at 7:30pm. The white walls of the historic Annisquam Village Church will become the canvas for a soundscape of swirling tone-colors\, as the Gloucester-based group presents To Paint the Night: a diverse bill of fare showcasing the richness and versatility of the string quartet format. \n\n\n\n\n\nThe program opens with Astor Piazzolla’s fiery Four for Tango\, before probing the dark night of the soul which is Dmitri Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 8— dedicated by the composer “to the victims of fascism and war.” Thelonious Monk’s ‘Round Midnight\, newly arranged for quartet by violinist and composer Scott Moore\, is all blues and purples and grays: lush\, playful\, and mysterious. The concert closes with the sensual Impressionism of Claude Debussy’s radiant String Quartet in G minor. \n\n\n\nThe Lobster Cove String Quartet is the latest creation of Moore\, Artist-in- Residence at the Annisquam Village Church. Moore is joined by members Erica Pisaturo (violin)\, Brandon White (viola)\, and Alex Fowler (cello). Admission is by donation ($35 suggested)\, and a reception with the artists will follow the performance.
