Symphony by the Sea will present Sketches of Spain on Sunday, May 3, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. at the historic Cabot Theater in downtown Beverly. This vibrant season finale explores the intensity, lyricism, and colors of the Spanish landscape through music by Juan Crisóstomo Arriaga, Joaquín Rodrigo, Joaquín Turina, and Manuel de Falla. The concert’s centerpiece is Joaquín Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez, featuring acclaimed guest guitar soloist Jerome Mouffe. Symphony by the Sea describes the work as perhaps the most played and beloved of all guitar concertos, noting that a version by Miles Davis and Gil Evans helped make its iconic second movement even more widely known.
