With exhibitions ranging from historic maritime art and artifacts to contemporary multimedia installations, the Peabody Essex Museum is an engrossing and sometimes unexpected cultural destination. A new wing opened in 2019 expanded the museum’s capacity to host diverse and thought-provoking exhibitions. And the museum is always finding ways for visitors to interact with and even help create art, like adding their own drawings to a display or immersing themselves in the gallery experiences and events both virtually and in person.
