Essex Heritage, a non-profit that manages and provides numerous programs preserving and enhancing Essex County’s historic, natural, and cultural resource sites, is pleased to announce that Yetti Frenkel of Lynn is the winner of the Find Your Story “Winter Challenge!”

Find Your Story is a public awareness campaign celebrating two milestone anniversaries: the 20th anniversary of the congressional act designating the Essex National Heritage Area, and the National Park Service centennial. Find Your Story invites the public to share videos, photographs, or audio recordings about their favorite places via a series of “challenges” throughout the year. All videos submitted March 1 through April 1 were eligible to win the Winter Challenge prize for the best video short: a $150 Gift Card to Whole Foods.

Yetti’s winning Find Your Story “Winter Challenge” video, made with the help of her friend, Kerry Breyman, can be watched on Essex Heritage’s Facebook: Facebook.com/EssexHeritage. Yetti Frenkel is an artist who specializes in painting large-scale murals of people and animals. Her paintings chronicle the urban scene, portraying diverse populations that make up contemporary communities. She has painted murals for seven public libraries in New England, and for numerous schools and communities. She has worked with children, businesses and community organizations to create murals that brighten and enhance neighborhoods, schools, and institutions. Red Rock Park at Lynn Beach has been the inspiration for part of one of her murals in Downtown Lynn and for other paintings she has done.

The “Spring Into Summer Challenge” invites people to share their favorite place in Essex County to enjoy the spring to early summer season, and why, via photograph, video, or audio recording. All photos, videos, or audio recordings submitted now through June 30 will be eligible to win the “Spring Into Summer Challenge.”  Essex Heritage will award two prizes:  the contestant with the best submission will receive four passes to the Peabody Essex Museum and a copy of American Impressionist: Childe Hassam and the Isles of Shoals donated by the Peabody Essex Museum, as well as a ShadowDry waterproof bike tote donated by The Bicycle Shop of Topsfield. The place that the most individuals name as their favorite place will receive $500 from Essex Heritage.
