Layer Your Look This Fall

With Jeans

Heavy knits are always comfy and can be substituted for a coat on cool days. The key is picking a piece that doesn’t overwhelm your frame, like this cropped cardigan. Pair it with a sheer layer that hugs the body and a thin knit (a kind of "T-shirt" and a winter essential). The smooth, rich texture of leather boots and belt add the perfect counterpoint to the cozy knit.

With a Dress

Use a print to break up the neutral tones of your winter favorites. This lightweight jacket matches everything and doesn’t weigh down your look. It instantly gives a dress a great fall appeal. Reinvent necklaces by layering different lengths together for extra interest and shine.

Detailed cross-body bags can act as layers and add texture and sheen.

Drape a shawl over your shoulders for a final warm layer or cozy a scarf around your neck for protection against cold wind. It’s the easiest layer to add and remove, depending on the temperature.

Cold feet? Boots offer several options—from bare legs to fleece-lined leggings. They also provide the perfect visual balance to a layered outfit. Basic black is great for evening looks.

Lucite Necklace

Don’t be afraid to layer necklaces on top of prints, colors, or other interesting necklines. They add a touch of personal style.

This detailed ring mixes silver, gold, and rhinestones. Use it as a starting point and combine with other accessories—and don’t be afraid to mix your metals!

These bracelets are not a set, but their similar tones and textures work together for a layered effect.

Gold Belt

Cinch your waist with a great belt, either over or under layers. It adds texture, defines your waist, and keeps you on trend.
