Lark Hotels, the renowned hospitality brand with properties throughout New England and in two cities on the west coast, will reopen Plum Island’s Blue Inn on the beach with an updated look on June 22, 2016. With 13 guestrooms and cottages mere steps from Plum Island’s coastline, Blue’s location is the epitome of beachfront accommodations, providing guests with sandy toes and Atlantic Ocean views year-round. Just an hour north of Boston, Blue is easily accessible by car or train but evokes the feel of a secluded vacation escape.

Originally operated for decades as Walton’s Ocean Front Inn, Blue has long been a landmark of Plum Island, which spans 11 miles along the coasts of Newbury, Newburyport, and Rowley on Massachusetts’ North Shore. Visitors flood Plum Island throughout the year to enjoy miles of sandy public beaches that are home to more than 800 species of wildlife. Among its many praises, the area boasts Plum Island Airport, the oldest private airfield in the country with its first flight in 1909, just six short years after the Wright brothers first took flight.

Prior to its reopening in June of 2016, Blue underwent a full refresh led by Lark Hotels’ Design Director, Rachel Reider of Boston’s Rachel Reider Interiors. Inspired by the proximity of Plum Island Beach and the island’s quintessential beach town feel, Reider outfitted each of Blue’s guestrooms, cottages, and outdoor spaces in crisp white hues with sandy beige accents and pops of the property’s signature sea glass blue.

Spacious and restful, each of Blue’s accommodations feature plush beds with luxe linens, bath amenities from Lather, complimentary breakfast baskets delivered daily, fireplaces and full kitchens in select rooms, access to beach cruiser bicycles, and in some cases, patios and exclusive access to private portions of Plum Island Beach. High season rates begin at $389 per night, and room types range from standard Oceanview Queen to the expansive and airy 2,200 square foot Oceanview Blue Suite - the perfect family retreat with two bedrooms, a full kitchen, and direct access to Blue’s waterfront jacuzzi hot tub. Across the street, Blue’s one and two-bedroom cottages are still steps from the beach and located alongside the hotel’s second hot tub, sunny seating area and outdoor shower.

To celebrate its reopening beginning on June 22, 2016, Blue will offer a Beach-Bound Grand Opening Deal with 15% off room rates for two or more night mid-week stays from June 22 through July 21, and a custom Plum Island beach tote keepsake.
