The Salem Arts Festival promotes the arts in downtown Salem through a collaborative festival for residents and visitors providing opportunities to highlight the existing artist community and encourage general community participation in the arts.

The 2010 festival had over 4,000 visitors. The Festival is looking for art and performance for the sophisticated art patron as well as for the art novice including interactive events for children. It will engage participants of diverse backgrounds and ages by reaching out to current art patrons, local students, and the community at large.

The Salem Arts Festival, June 3 – 5 will celebrate all the arts: painting, photography, sculpture, dance, music, writing, film, new media, performance, theatre, poetry, culinary and visual art. We are looking for artists of all mediums to exhibit and/or perform.

Did you ever want to:

Create art en plein air – with an audience?

Lead a workshop or an artist’s demonstration?

Draw with chalk on the sidewalk?

Play your instruments by a fountain?

Create an installation in a public space?

Display your artwork in a Salem coffee shop or retail business?

Use your imagination! Submit a proposal as an individual or as a group to help us celebrate the Arts all over Salem! Various venues are available throughout the city from traditional gallery space to outdoor performance spaces. Let us know what would work best for you and/or your group.

The Salem Arts Festival promotes the arts in downtown Salem with a festival for residents and visitors. This festival provides the arts community an opportunity to showcase their talents.

The Festival will run June 3-5, 2011 in Salem at a variety of venues from juried exhibitions and demonstrations to live performances. It will appeal to the sophisticated art patron, the art lover, the art enthusiast, and the art novice, and will include interactive events for children. People of all ages and backgrounds will find something that will delight and educate them by reaching out to current art patrons, local students, and the community at large.
