Danvers High School Seniors and DECA members, Riley Thomson and Nicole Ziner have both lost grandparents to Alzheimer’s disease.  For their DECA project this year, they are holding a fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association.

“Because we have learned that it is important to ‘maintain your brain’ to help delay the onset of Alzheimer’s we have decided to host a fun trivia night,” said Riley Thomson  “We have contacted several Boston TV and radio personalities who have agreed to attend the event which we are calling Celebrity Brain Games.”

Media personalities scheduled to attend include: Kim Carrigan, host of the Boston.com Morning Show on WRKO, Bridget Blythe, anchor at NECN, Nancy Quill, David O’Leary and Sue Tabb from Magic 106.7, Carolyn Kruse from Country 102.5 WKLB, and Hank Morse of WROR.

Celebrity Brain Games will be held on Thursday, November 19th from 5:30 – 9:00 p.m. at Teresa’s Eatery in Middleton.  Guests will enjoy a delicious Italian dinner, a silent auction, raffles, and other surprises before competing with and against friends, family and local celebrities for their team to be the “Ultimate Brainiacs.”  Teams of five are $250.  Single seats are available for $50 each.  Single players will be combined to form teams.

“Our goal is to raise as much money as possible to continue to support the Alzheimer’s Association in their efforts to find a cure so that other kids don’t have to watch their grandparents or other family members suffer from this terrible disease,” said Nicole Ziner.

Thomson and Ziner are both active members of DECA, an organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. They will present this event and its results to judges in local, state, and hopefully national competitions.

The young ladies are looking for sponsors, which include the opportunity to have one of the celebrity guests play on your team as well as donation items for the auctions and raffles.  Companies that have already committed to sponsor the event include: People’s United Bank, Align Credit Union, Capital Management Partners, Abbott Construction & Landscaping, TLA Services, and E.P.
