Newburyport Development has announced the opening of innovative retail pop-up Wears Woody located at 54R Merrimac Street in downtown Newburyport. Founded in 2013, Wears Woody features the softest and best quality outdoor wear combined with a mobile retail concept. As farm-to-table has done for food and nutrition, Wears Woody is pioneering the “mill-to-market” movement for the apparel and retail industries. The concept is to provide locally sourced and produced goods which are made to order in smaller runs. They are then delivered ‘fresh’ to the shopper, at a reasonable price, via Wears Woody’s modernized fleet of funky Wagoneers and temporary retail activations
Wears Woody’s mission was founded on ‘Driving over Diabetes’ in recognition of the company’s founder who has been fortunate to live healthy and well with Type 1 Diabetes for almost four decades. To encourage those like him to pursue their wildest dreams – and to look great doing it – the company shares net profits with various nonprofit organizations.
“Wears Woody is a whimsical, fun retailer with an amazing concept,” explains Newburyport Development marketing director, Rebekah Macchia, “The Wears Woody Wagoneers add a touch of whimsy to this specialty retailer. And it’s nice to know that the goods sold are all locally sourced, and that the company takes its commitment to community involvement and charity very seriously. Newburyport shoppers will be eager to visit this truly one-of-a-kind pop-up.”
