Boston Ballet on the North Shore

Since opening in Marblehead, the Boston Ballet School has become part of the fabric of the North Shore’s cultural community. The school’s studio was built in collaboration with the Lynch/van Otterloo YMCA, and based on a common mission to educate youth and enrich the community.

The Boston Ballet School, the official school of Bost on Ballet, provides a wide r ange of dance education programs and ballet classes for toddlers to adults, as well as joint programs with the YMCA and college programs through partnerships with Endicott College and Salem State University—serving 1,000 students annually. As an active partner in the community, the school w orks closely with the Marblehead and Salem Chambers of Commerce and with cultural organizations throughout the North Shore.

Designed to introduce public schoolchildren to dance, Boston Ballet’s Citydance program visited over 30 public schools on the North Shore this year. The program provided dance workshops for 1,000 third-grade students.

Boston Ballet offers access to the highest quality arts experiences, and connects with the community to inspire and educate new arts and dance lovers on the North Shore and throughout New England.

Led by artistic director Mikko Nissinen, the company has grown to become a force in the professional dance world locally, nationally, and internationally. Boston Ballet continues this dynamic momentum into its 50th season while honoring its historic roots. —Boston Ballet
