Firm Wins Gold for Best Interior Design at the 2009 PRISM Awards

from the Builders Association of Greater Boston

Newburyport, MA – October 22, 2009. Cebula Design, a full service interior design firm, recently was awarded the top honor for interior design at the 2009 PRISM (Prestigious Results in Sales and Marketing) Awards sponsored by the Building Association of Greater Boston.

Cebula was awarded Gold in the category of “Best Interior Design” in a private residency for a 16,000 square foot home in Dover, New Hampshire named “Villa Como.” Described by owners David and Karen Della Penta as “a dream come true,” the sprawling residence on 13 acres overlooking a nearby river fulfills the owners’ vision for a spectacular blue summer house. This was Cebula Design’s first submission to the PRISM Awards.

“After 25 years in this business, it’s great to be recognized for this project,” says Michael Cebula, design director and founder of Cebula Design. “It was a wonderful project, with many unique design challenges, including the request that each of the 20 rooms in the house be designed in a blue color scheme.”

Managing director Jeffrey Adams added, “It’s especially an honor to be recognized among the very distinguished group of applicants in the Interior Design category. We worked hard on this project and we are very proud of this recognition.”

Cebula noted that the award was truly a win for the entire company. “Everyone here was involved in this project,” said Cebula, noting that the company functions as a team and the whole team was present for the presentation of the award.

The Della Pentas were equally as pleased with the award. “The team at Cebula deserves this award,” said David Della Penta. “We had worked with the firm on a previous house, so when they designed this house, they were able to perfectly capture our personalities in a way that completely reflects our lifestyle and how we live.”

The Della Pentas were involved in the initial plans for the house, and then they left for their home in California, only returning upon its completion nine months later. “I completely trust Michael’s creativity and flexibility,” said Karen Della Penta, “as well as his team’s pension for detail and follow-up, their eye for artwork, and their ability to fully understand our needs and wants.” David Della Penta added, “Before we came back to the completed house for the first time, the Cebula team went as far as putting our personal items, such as clothing, in place throughout the house and completely stocking our kitchen with food and supplies. They even rolled out a red carpet out the front door to welcome us home. That’s how much care and attention they give to their clients. “

“If at the end of the day, you don’t have a happy client,” said Cebula, “what do you have?”

The PRISM Award show was the Park Plaza, which held a bit of irony for Cebula. “I worked nights behind the desk at this hotel to put myself through college,” said Cebula. “I never could have imagined then that I would return there more than 40 years later to receive this distinguished award.”
