Camera Enthusiasts Invited to Embark on Essex National Heritage Area Photo Adventures

Calling all photo enthusiasts for an expedition deep into the Essex National Heritage Area! With a state-of-the-art digital camera in hand, explore  four unique and stunning Essex National Heritage Area landscapes and historic sites. Equipped with all the latest camera gear from Canon, Nikon, Olympus or Tamron, provided by Hunt’s Photo & Video, and personally coached by Hunt’s technical experts and professional photographers, you’ll be poised to capture that award-winning image.

Ready to embark? Registration is now open to participate in the Essex Heritage Photo Safari program. Sponsored by four major camera equipment companies and New England’s largest photography retailer, Hunt’s Photo & Video of Melrose, MA, the Essex Heritage Photo Safari program provides the perfect blend of historic exploration with modern-day digital photography advances.  Photographers at all levels will expand their skills and broaden their horizons with unlimited use of high-quality photo equipment during visits to these incredibly beautiful Essex National Heritage Area locations.

Olympus Photo Safari

Saturday, May 22nd at Endicott Park and Glen Magna Farms & Estate, Danvers

Tamron Photo Safari

Saturday, June 5th at Rolling Ridge Retreat & Conference Center, North Andover

Canon Photo Safari

Saturday, June 26th at Stevens-Coolidge Place, North Andover

Nikon Photo Safari

Saturday July 10th, Long Hill Reservation, Beverly

In its fifth year, the Essex Heritage Photo Safari program is designed to showcase the beauty and unique landscape of the Essex National Heritage Area and highlights the mission of Essex Heritage. Working in partnership with the National Park Service, Essex Heritage encourages public/private partnerships and implements programs to enhance, preserve and promote the unique historic, cultural and natural resources of the Essex National Heritage Area.

Photo Safari sessions are open to the public (pre-registration for each event is required). Participants will receive hands-on instruction from Hunt’s knowledgeable technical experts during each session. The cost for each 2010 Photo Safari (5 hour session) is $45 ($30 for Essex Heritage members).  Register online at: EssexHeritage.org/photosafari or call Essex Heritage at: 978.740.0444.

Be sure to enter your images in the annual Essex Heritage Photo Contest! Essex Heritage Photo Safaris have generated eye-catching entries.  All submissions are due by October 1, 2010, and any photos captured between October 1, 2009 and October 1, 2010 are eligible.  Photographers are invited to submit any images taken in the Essex National Heritage Area, assigning them to one of four categories: “People”, “Essex Heritage Events”, “Essex Heritage Scenic Byway” or “Four Seasons”.  Capture the essence of an Essex Heritage experience and/or speak to Essex Heritage’s role in preserving and promoting the rocky coasts and harbors, farms and forests, historic districts, rivers and marshes of Essex County!
