TOPSFIELD, Mass. (September 22, 2011) – Do you make a great apple pie? Cider Hill Farm and The Topsfield Fair want you to prove it.  Enter your best apple pie in the 2011 Topsfield Fair Apple Pie Contest.

 

To enter, bake an apple pie in a disposable plate of your choice – either glass or foil.  The food entry must be submitted with two copies of the complete recipe, typed on one side of an 8 ½ x 11″ sheet of paper.  Please include name, address, and telephone number on the back of each sheet.

 

Entry form deadline is Wednesday, October 5, 2011.  Pies must be delivered on Friday, October 7th from 3:30-5:30pm.  Judging will take place from 6:30-9:00pm with winners announced at the end of the judging period.

First place wins a $75, a gift basket from Cider Hill Farm in Amesbury, and a ½ bushel of apples from Cider Hill Farm.   Second place receives $50 plus a ½ bushel of Cortland apples from Cider Hill Farm. Third place winner receives $25 plus a bag of apples from Cider Hill Farm.

Recipes will be judged on crust texture, flavor, overall appearance and originality.  No pre-made, store-bought, or crust mix allowed.  Contest is open to ages 16 years and older, and all recipes become the property of the Topsfield Fair.
