Jason Doviak’s style is a reflection of the overlap between work and play that athletics brings to his daily life. The associate director of athletics at Salem State University says that there is no such thing as a typical day at work, which is part of the position’s appeal. Depending on the day’s demands, Doviak will wear anything from a casual pair of pants and polo shirt to a formal suit, selecting styles from designers like Giorgio Armani, Calvin Klein, and Kenneth Cole. But on his days off, comfort is key. Doviak’s interest in an active lifestyle spills into the weekends, when he makes time to hunt, fish, and go to the beach with his wife, daughter, and dogs.

If you run into Rick Sweeney beyond the Gordon College campus grounds, you might not recognize him. The vice president for marketing and communications at the Wenham school sheds his typically professional attire for outfits that reflect his interests in rock music and guitar playing. Weekend outfits are composed of “a lot more leather.” One of Sweeney’s favorite items is a pair of Harley Davidson riding boots. Despite the contrast in these two styles, he feels each represents his personality accurately. “You can wear anything you want, if you do it with panache,” says Sweeney.

President of Montserrat College of Art, Stephen Immerman, says his style could be described as fairly conservative, except for perhaps some of his choices in ties and socks. Immerman prefers to wear strong, vibrantly colored clothes, but says his choices tend toward the traditional. He favors, suits, blazers and button down shirts, and oxfords. Weekends allow for more freedom—black jeans, cowboy boots, a Robert Graham shirt, and an unstructured blazer in the fall, or Nantucket Red chinos from Murray’s and untucked linen shirts in the summer are among Immerman’s casual duds. When the weather turns colder, he is easily identified on the Beverly campus as the guy in the Russian fur hat.
