Salem Farmers’ Market
The Salem Farmers’ Market is a tradition that dates back to 1634. With its peak around 1930, where more than 40 vendors sold goods in collapsible wooden stalls, an estimated 10,000 people visited the market on a single Saturday. The mission of today’s market is to enhance the quality of life in the downtown area by providing a community activity that fosters social gathering and interaction; provide a convenient means of purchasing locally grown and prepared foods; and support local agriculture by providing a direct market to local produce.
Location Downtown Salem, Derby Square on Front Street
Dates: June 18 through October (Thursdays)
Time: 3 p. m. to 7 p. m.
Andover Farmers’ Market
During the 2015 season, the market is held Saturdays on the lawn of the Andover Historical Society. Local vendors come together to sell the bounty of the summer season. The market will be closed July 4 in observance of Independence Day. Andover Farmers’ Market continues its popular morning start time this season.
