2023 Water Sports

Editors’ Choice

Cape Ann SUP + Surf, Gloucester

For the seventh year in a row, Cape Ann SUP + Surf takes home a water sports BONS for its stand-up paddle board and surf services. What started in 2010 with just six paddle boards is now a thriving North Shore community for paddle board and surf rentals and lessons. There are three locations—one at Long Beach, one at the Beauport, and one at the Essex Marina, along with a retail shop, The Barn, in Essex. There’s a little something for everyone, like surfing lessons, SUP yoga, and Ladies Surf Nights. 55 Commercial St. and 33 Rockport Rd., Gloucester; 35 Dodge St. and 2 Southern Ave., Essex, 978-233-1787, capeannsup.com

Undersea Divers, Danvers

Want to learn how to scuba dive? Undersea Divers in Danvers has been offering classes since 1987 so North Shore residents can explore the underwater beauty of the region, home to some of the best dive sites on the East Coast. Along with PADI classes, Undersea also runs a full repair and service center and private guided dives, and organizes group diving trips—there’s one to the Cayman Islands in January that still has a few spots left. 67 High St., Danvers, 978-927-9551, underseadivers.com
