Kentucky natives and siblings, Kami and Michael Land, bring a little southern charm to the North Shore with their new shop, New England Ice Lollies. Their storefront offers “handcrafted gourmet frozen treats” in almost every flavor imaginable. Their bestsellers, Salted Caramel Coconut and Blackberry Lemonade, are not to be missed. Since opening their doors on Memorial Day weekend, the Land family’s shop has garnered an enthusiastic following.
After their parents moved to Newburyport a few years ago, the Land siblings found that they missed their parents; Kami was teaching in Florida and Michael was living in Tennessee. After a trip to a Popsicle shop while visiting their sister at Samford University in Alabama, Kami and Michael had found the inspiration they’d been searching for to begin a family business. They started from scratch.
Today, their gourmet treat shop aims to accommodate every customer. “We really try to have a variety of options for everyone and cater to all needs and diets,” says Kami. Their menu includes options that are sugar-free, dairy-free, and nut-free. Every iced lollie is made in-store from fresh fruits and in small batches to ensure the highest quality.
In addition to their delicious and refreshing frozen treats, Newburyport’s newest entrepreneurs offer southern-style sweet tea, lemonade, and Winfrey’s chocolates and fudge. The shop is also available for catering weddings and parties, and in-store birthday parties are in the offering.
Even dogs will leave happy and cooled off, as free, dog-friendly ice lollies made of frozen chicken broth and water are doled out with any purchase.
