  Dr. Hartmann is a board-certified general surgeon, the Medical Director of the Gerrish Breast Care Center and member of the multidisciplinary team at the Anna Jaques Cancer Center affiliated with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He has had a special interest in breast surgery for decades, and was among the first to use the sentinel node biopsy in New England in the 1990s.
