Cocoa Beantown chocolate tours and events is excited to announce the return of their chocolate and rum pairing event in collaboration with Privateer Distillery in Ipswich. During this special event, guests will enjoy a sugar tasting, a tour of the Privateer distillery, followed by a rum and chocolate pairing experience featuring a selection of Privateer’s world class spirits accompanied by specially curated chocolates, in their beautiful, ship- inspired tasting room. Attendees will first get to learn about the methods and processes that make Privateer excel before experiencing how their distinct flavors pair with the nuances of different cocoa content levels and percentages. All guests will also go home with goodie bags featuring swag from Cocoa Beantown and Privateer, including samples from locally-based cacao supplier, Kakosi and Taza. The event is scheduled for Saturday, October 20, from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the Privateer Distillery in Ipswich, 11 Brady Dr., 01938. “While chocolate has never been unpopular, it has gone through a renaissance over the past decade or so, with the advent of so many small batch, craft, artisan chocolate makers springing up across the country. In Massachusetts, we’re lucky to not only be the home state of many of these artisans, but to also share a deep history with so many great chocolate inventions and creations. We’re so excited to once again collaborate with another Massachusetts-made product, Privateer Rum, a distillery that shares our appreciation for both culinary history and craft processes, by introducing guests to a food and spirits pairing they probably have not experienced before.”–Victoria Kichuk, owner and founder, Cocoa Beantown. “Privateer is excited to partner up with Cocoa Beantown for a second classic paring of chocolate and local rum! New England has a deep, and seemingly forgotten, history in both rum and chocolate. We are happy to remind people of this by guiding them through a tasting of both at our distillery in Ipswich.” –Kevin Martin, VP of Sales & Marketing Tickets are $40 per person, and are currently on sale through the Cocoa Beantown website or by calling their box office at 617-855-8567.
