SUMMER WALKING TOURS
Offered on Friday and Saturday mornings at 10:00 all summer long!
Guided walking tours are held rain or shine and last about 1½ hours; participants should be comfortable being on their feet for that amount of time. Cost is $10 for CAM members and $20 for nonmembers (includes Museum admission). Space is limited; reservations required. Tickets can be purchased online at Eventbrite or by calling 978-283-0455 x10. Rock Bound: Painting the American Scene on Cape Ann and Along the Shore
On view through October 29
With paintings drawn from private collections and the Museum’s own holdings, Rock Bound explores how many different artists of the early 20th century sought to capture the natural beauty of the area, the power of the ocean, and the hardscrabble way of life that was quickly disappearing in other areas. Artists featured in this exhibition include Jane Peterson, Martha Walter, Gifford Beal, Leon Kroll, Marsden Hartley, and Stuart Davis.

Sea Serpent Sighting Bicentennial Cruise
Thursday, August 10 at 3:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
The Cape Ann Museum and Maritime Gloucester are pleased to offer a special bicentennial tour of Gloucester Harbor aboard the schooner Ardelle. The tour will be narrated by Wayne Soini, author of The Gloucester Sea Serpent of 1817 (History Press, 2010). Cost is $40 for CAM and Maritime Gloucester members and $50 for nonmembers. In her recent body of work, artist Clara Lieu considers the experiences of older women in times of political uncertainty and backlash and how that experience can be utilized by younger generations. This program marks the 8th year of collaboration with the Rocky Neck Art Colony for the Distinguished Artist/Teacher Goetemann Artist in Residence lecture and is free and open to the public.
An Insider’s Guide to Collecting with Jim Callahan
Thursday, August 17 at 7:00 p.m.
Jim Callahan will talk about his 20 years as an appraiser on PBS’s Antiques Roadshow and will address market priorities and offer hints for collectors.
