LOOKING AHEAD
January is Membership Month! Every year the Museum opens its doors free of charge to all Cape Ann residents-Rockport, Gloucester, Manchester and Essex-during the month of January. This is a great opportunity to invite neighbors, friends and family to visit and consider supporting the Museum through membership. Opening Celebration Once Upon a Contest: Selections from Cape Ann Reads Saturday, January 5, 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Join us for a celebration of the award-winning children’s book authors and illustrators inspired by the 2017 Cape Ann Reads original picture book competition. Free for Museum members and Cape Ann residents or with Museum admission. Winter Shorts Docent Guided Tours Saturday, January 5, 19 and 26 at 10:30 a.m. Learn more about the Cape Ann Museum through a Winter Shorts specialty tour, offered at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, 1/5, 1/19 and 1/26. Each tour focusses on three discreet areas of the collection-sign up for one or more-a great way for members and nonmembers alike to learn more about the Museum and its collections. Free for Museum members, Cape Ann Residents or with Museum admission. ~~~ 2018 DOTTY BROWN ANNUAL FUND The Dotty Brown Annual Fund was named in honor of our friend, longstanding board member and benefactor, Dotty Brown (1923-2014). For more than 25 years, Dotty made significant contributions to the Cape Ann Museum’s Annual Fund. She understood that membership revenue and endowment income do not cover the total costs associated with operating a nonprofit such as the Museum. We hope that Dotty’s example will inspire others to contribute. Your gift to this year’s Annual Fund will make an enormous difference to the Museum, its programs and the communities we serve.
