5th Annual Parade of Trees

When: Saturday November 30th through Saturday December 7th, varied festivities and hours.

About: Creatively decorated trees and wreaths on display. Many SPECIAL EVENTS for the whole family! All trees and wreaths will be raffled to lucky winners on December 7th. Farrow & Ball presents: Transform Your Home with Color

When: Thursday, Dec 5th, 2 p.m. to 3 p.m, Tickets are $40 and available at the door.

About: Jessica Ritchie of the internationally renown paint and wall paper London based firm, Farrow & Ball, will share an inspirational talk on how to transform your home with color. Learn how, through the simple use of paint and wallpaper, you can create striking decorating schemes for any style of home. Inspired by the show house, the talk will emphasize the decoration of historic properties and how to use wallpaper.Self guided tour of the Designers’ Holiday Show House is included before or after the Farrow & Ball presentation. Onion Town Cabaret: in conjunction with the 5th Annual PARADE OF TREES

When: Friday December 6, 2013, 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

About: Where do your talents lie? Do you vocalize like Kate Smith? or Caruso? Dance like Astaire and Rogers? Are you an aficionado of the accordion? A former Mouseketeer? We’re bringing back the old time variety show and invite you to join in!! Danvers Historical Society presents a new, live program “Oniontown Variety Show” Friday December 6, beginning at 7:00 P.M. The show will feature local volunteer talent on stage in the newly refurbished Tapley Memorial Hall. Everyone is welcome for this fun event. Light refreshments will be available. Admission at the door will be $5 for non-performers. Bring the whole family to watch you perform! Proceeds benefit the ongoing preservation mission of the Society. Textiles Exhibit

When: December 1, 2013 through December 15, 2013

About: Curator Mckenzie Shultis, a senior at Salem State University, researches and displays textiles from the Danvers Historical Society’s collections. Ms. Shultis’s exhibition explores the global connectedness of North Shore communities like Danvers and Salem during the nineteenth century. View period dresses from the Society’s extensive collections and world famous John Burbidge mannequins – staged by Ms. Shultis (SSU Professor of Art, Gretchen Sinnett, Intern Coordinator). Includes self-guided tour of Designers’ Holiday Show House.

Salem Spice presents: A Tea Tasting

When: Tuesday, Dec 10th, 2 p.m. to 3 p.m, tickets are $40.

About: David Bowie of Salem Spice will host an intimate discussion on tea, how it is harvested, and dried to create the various style. There will also be a short introduction on how to properly brew tea and what options are available from the Camellia sinensis plant. Featured teas will be Gunpowder Green Tea and 2 styles of black tea from China. A Lapsang Souchong will be presented as a finishing touch. Accompanying the tasting will be small treats from the 2009 Best of Boston Bakery, A&J King. You won’t want to miss this one!
