  Floor-to-ceiling marble walls, stunning vaulted ceilings, elegant tufted leather seating, eye-popping seafood towers, and award-winning steaks paired with innovative twists on traditional sides will make the second location of Boston Chops one of the city’s most anticipated openings of 2018. Opening tonight, the newest Boston Chops will bring its signature sizzle and service to Downtown Crossing. The latest venture from Brian Piccini and Chris Coombs of Boston Urban Hospitality Group will deliver an exceptional steakhouse experience in a luxe, urban atmosphere. Since first opening its doors in the South End in 2013, the original Boston Chops has received local and national acclaim as well as a large following of loyal guests. Under Coombs leadership, Boston Chops consistently shows up on “Best of Boston” lists and earned a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence. Boston Chops was voted Food & Wine magazine’s “Best New Steakhouse” in 2014.  Coombs and the Boston Urban Hospitality team look forward to meeting the same standards of excellence at the upcoming location. “We decided to build our second location of Boston Chops in Downtown Crossing after seeing the development plans and revitalization of that neighborhood. It seems like a perfect place for a steakhouse concept to cater to businesspeople, theater-goers, neighbors and tourists,” says Brain Piccini. “We like to find a space and then decide what concept would be successful in that neighborhood. Boston Chops seemed like a great fit.” Helmed by executive chef Adrienne Wright and overseen by chef/owner Chris Coombs, Boston Chops’ menu offers tried-and-true steakhouse classics as well as chef-driven creations using the highest quality ingredients and technique.  The menu includes traditional steakhouse fare prepared with an award-winning chef’s techniques. There is also a lunch menu, a strong seafood raw bar focus, some impressive cuts of beef like a 20 oz. Chateaubriand, 18 oz. prime bone-in ribeye and some more imaginative dishes on the menu that stray from a traditional steakhouse, such as oxtail croquettes, pork belly mac and cheese and poutine-style twice baked loaded potato. Perfectly complementing the food menu, Boston Chops carefully curated beverage program will offer a wide variety of beer, wine, classic cocktails, and signature drinks. Known for its expansive wine cellar, Boston Chops’ beverage program will focus upon its offerings of new and old world, foreign and domestic wines available by the glass or bottle. Located inside the former 1890 Old Colony Trust Bank at 52 Temple Place, Boston Chops’ interior boasts two floors of a luxe, grandiose feel while maintaining a sexy, urban edge. The unique space, having undergone a complete renovation ahead of opening, features awe-inspiring design components, such as: vaulted ceilings, floor-to-ceiling marble walls, remarkable millwork throughout, wrought iron streetlamps, tufted posh velvet and leather seating throughout, three private dining rooms, three separate bars, a separate lounge area located in the former bank vault that connects to the impressive wine room, and gleaming hardwood floors mixed with original mosaic tile and marble floors throughout. Boston Chops Downtown Crossing has the first and only Instagram table in the country that was built and created exclusively for the restaurant. Owners Chris Coombs and Brian Piccini met with social media influencers, architects and photographers to create a space where anyone wanting to post food photos on social media will have the perfect picture every time. The table investment was $10,000 to create and is available for reservation. Customizable features include: moveable arm lights, adjustable light intensities and adjustable color temperature settings.  There are also “Instagrammable moments” throughout the restaurant that include design components, art, signs, and backgrounds for photos made for social media. According to Coombs, “Social media is a big part of the dining scene today and we didn’t have to think about it when we opened Boston Chops South End five years ago. Now, it is imperative that photos of restaurant interior and food are beautiful when they are posted online by influencers.
